Horizon Music Academy Keys to your heart

01The curriculum

One student. One teacher.

Piano and violin are the instruments; theory and exam preparation are what turn playing into musicianship. Every course runs one-to-one, and every plan is written around a single student.

What you can learn

Four programmes, taught side by side. Most students combine an instrument with theory, and add AMEB preparation when they are ready.

03Levels

Three stages, one continuum

Students move at their own pace. These are the three shapes a musical education tends to take — not a rigid ladder.

Level 01

Beginner

Students build correct finger technique to lay solid foundations for easy progression. Lessons are fun and interactive, nurturing a musical interest early on.

  • Correct finger technique
  • Reading the staff
  • Short pieces to play at home
Level 02

Intermediate

Students explore expressive technique and gain the ability to perform pieces they genuinely enjoy. We look at the context of each composition and how it can be interpreted.

  • Expressive technique
  • Interpretation and context
  • A repertoire the student chooses
Level 03

Advanced

Students play complex works requiring high technicality and a broad repertoire across genres — expanding that repertoire, refining detail and finding a personal interpretation.

  • Complex works
  • Broader repertoire across genres
  • Performance and exam readiness

Examinations

AMEB, without the panic

Preparation runs alongside normal lessons rather than replacing them: technical work, aural training, sight reading and repertoire, grade by grade. Students sit exams when they are ready — not when the calendar says so.
